TOKYO HIGH DENTAL CLINIC
Bridges
In brief
A bridge uses the teeth on either side as abutments and fits a connected prosthesis where a tooth is missing.
Prosthetic treatment is planned by Dr. Ahn Jin-gyu, a specialist in integrated dentistry, after checking the remaining teeth and the bite. The same dentist stays with you from consultation to the end of treatment.
What is a bridge?
When a tooth is missing, the teeth on either side are reduced and covered as a connected set.
Because the front and back teeth are joined like a bridge and the missing tooth must be
newly attached, a crown prosthesis connected across three teeth is fabricated and fitted.
It is only possible when the adjacent teeth are healthy and the gums and supporting tissue are strong.

We recommend this for the following

Cases where implants are impossible because the alveolar bone is damaged

Cases where aesthetics must be considered, such as front teeth

Cases where the teeth around the missing tooth also need prosthetic treatment

Cases where treatment must be completed in a short time
Aftercare instructions
A regular dental check-up is needed once every six months.
Chewing force decreases somewhat after the procedure, so the habit of chewing on only one side should be corrected.
Clenching, hard food and teeth grinding raise the risk of the prosthesis fracturing.
Floss and interdental brushes are needed so that decay does not recur.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is denture treatment covered by insurance?
For those aged 65 and over, national health insurance applies, greatly reducing the out-of-pocket cost.
Do dentures have to be worn every day?
Please wear them daily if possible, but it is better to take them out while sleeping to let the gums rest.
How many years can a bridge be used?
It can generally be used for about five to seven years, and longer depending on how well it is maintained.
